Are you an editorial assistant looking to progress? Do you want to work for an award-winning, international, independent publisher? Edward Elgar Publishing, located in Camberley, Surrey, are looking for a Desk Editor to join their busy editorial team in a full-time position, working thirty-five hours a week.


As Desk Editor you will manage projects from manuscript to final pdf, playing an integral role in the editorial team. You will liaise with editors, production and editorial staff, suppliers and freelancers to ensure the smooth management of projects. This role will require you to be highly careful and methodical in your work as well as flexible and adaptable, willing to take on responsibilities.


It is essential that the successful candidate has excellent communication, organisational and digital skills in order to take on and manage the workload effectively and smoothly. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Adobe is also essential along with thorough knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop. Understanding of XML would also be advantageous, however this is not essential. The successful candidate will show eagerness and enthusiasm to learn and develop this skillset throughout their role.

PR Trainee at Midas PR

Your passion for social media and digital marketing must shine through, as trainees will build influencer lists and analyse media coverage. An eye for detail is crucial to understanding the media landscape and knowing how to create headlines.

Multi Department Scheme (BAME) 2025 at The Guardian

Are you part of an ethnic minority group wanting to learn about journalism but don’t know where or how to start? Eager to experience a range of departments alongside exceptional journalists? The Guardian continues their Positive Action Scheme in the summer of 2025.


At their London office, journalist hopefuls with Black, Asian and/or Minority Ethnic backgrounds will closely shadow multiple editorial departments across two initial weeks over the months of July and August. Choice departments include Features, Saturday Magazine, Culture, Books, etc. The successful candidates will secure first-hand experience in The Guardian’s work environment, from assisting editors with research and receiving feedback in return to shadowing experienced journalists that mentor you throughout your work experience. You will gain an understanding of the journalistic and editorial styles of different departments and have the opportunity to pitch ideas.


Additionally, candidates will be offered a chance to return once the two weeks are over (with flexible dates depending on availability) and spend a week at their department of choice.


In order to be eligible for the scheme, candidates must be at least eighteen, have the right to work or train in the UK and must not have significant experience in the field or enrolled in other placements.
