Marketing Intern at David Fickling Books

Do you want to work in children’s publishing? Do you have an interest in marketing and public relations? David Fickling Books (DFB) is looking for a Marketing Intern to join their team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to learn all about children’s publishing from an independent publisher and kickstart a career in publishing and communications. In this role, you will support their small team over a twelve-month period, learn about the entire publishing process and develop key skills. Day-to-day you will support with press enquiries, PR mailings, industry competitions and co-ordinate promotional material. You will support content creation across all DFB’s social media channels, maintain PR roundups with national and regional review coverage, put forward titles for both regional and national rewards, submit titles for The Bookseller previews, manage PR requests and more.
No prior experience in publishing is needed for this role. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and outgoing, looking to begin a career in the industry and have a desire to learn about marketing as a career path in publishing. They will demonstrate strong communication skills and an ability to prioritise effectively. David Fickling Books wants an intern who is keen to learn, highly-organised and able to adapt.

Rights Assistant at Madeleine Milburn Literary Agency

Are you passionate about books and interested in international rights? Do you want to work for a world-renowned literary agency that represents a diverse and bestselling list of authors? Madeleine Milburn Literary Agency is seeking a Rights Assistant to join their International Rights Department.
As Rights Assistant, you will be providing support to the Head of Rights and the Associate Rights Agent, bringing energy and creativity to the team and thriving in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment. The role is highly demanding and will require a strong sense of initiative, ability to multitask and an eye for detail.Â
Responsibilities include supporting the team to ensure the smooth running of the department; scheduling and attending book fairs; assisting with international rights for adult fiction and non-fiction, YA and children’s titles; reading submissions; curating marketing material; processing royalties, payments and contracts; inputting data; managing agency media surrounding international rights; handling authors’ international publicity; coordinating with co-agented territories and undertaking general, day-to-day office duties.
To undertake these responsibilities, the successful candidate must have excellent administrative, organisational, time management and communication skills alongside a keen interest in the international book market and a desire to progress in their International Rights career. This position is ideal for those with junior publishing experience or with previous office experience that has provided them with key transferable skills. The ability to speak other languages is beneficial but not essential to this role.

Marketing and Publishing Intern at HarrisonParrott

Eager to try your hand in an entry level marketing role within music publishing? HarrisonParrott is a global arts management company with an aim to uplift and prosper talent from classical music and the performing arts. They are looking for a Marketing and Publishing Intern to support the Marketing team and an associated company, Birdsong Music Publishing.
As an intern, you will be performing multiple tasks across the in-house marketing team and Birdsong. On HarrisonParrott’s Marketing team, you will work across social media by posting news across their platforms and managing the accounts by actively creating content using Canva. You will be updating the company website with new releases like audio, concert calendars and videos, as well as adding new artist pages. Additionally, you will help with creating the weekly internal newsletter.
At Birdsong, you will be updating their works catalogue, create title pages to match the house style and proofread important notes on scores. You will be expected to provide similar marketing assistance to HP’s tasks while tracking performance dates on Overture, and researching Prize and Grant applications when necessary.
The ideal candidate will be someone who is passionate about music and marketing, and welcomes collaborations with industry artists and professionals. You will be a confident communicator and writer with an eye for detail and bringing unique content. You must be able to multitask, work to deadlines and have a working understanding of social media, websites and music notation. Keeping all this in mind, this is a training role and tasks can be learned on the job.

Running from July to December, the programme includes monthly virtual meetings where you will receive valuable guidance – from CV consultations to interview techniques – all designed to break down barriers and dispel industry myths.
