Sales & Operations Assistant at Pinnacle Booksales

Are you looking to kickstart your career in sales? Pinnacle Booksales UK is searching for a Sales & Operations Assistant to join their team.


This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading sales agency for independent publishers. In this role, you will provide support across Pinnacle Booksales and Pinnacle Distribution and be responsible for maintaining communication with both the Pinnacle sales team and the publishers they represent. You will work closely with multiple publishers and distributors, learning a great deal about the publishing and book distribution process.


Key responsibilities include organising and sharing marketing and sales materials (including sample copies), being the main contact for customer enquiries and requests and supporting the Sales Director with key account submissions. You will be processing trade orders for key accounts such as Waterstones, WHSmith, Selfridges, Harrods and more. You will also assist with the set-up of the London Book Fair and Gardners Trade Show.


The successful candidate will be meticulously well organised with strong attention to detail, numerate and have stellar communication skills. Full training in this role will be provided but previous experience with Microsoft Office would be highly advantageous – as would an interest in books.


The role is based in London and offers a hybrid working pattern.

Editorial Assistant at Swift Press

Want to break into editorial through an award-winning independent publishing company? Would you like to assist in the success of a growing, young publisher? Be sure to apply for Swift Press’s Editorial Assistant role.


Supporting the Publisher and Editorial Director, you will assist across the full editorial process – from proposal development and editing manuscripts, through to publication. You will also provide general support to the team.


The ideal candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm for reading and a desire to learn how to get people to read Swift Press releases. You should be diligent and able to assist in a small team. It is essential that you are proactive and open to learning a variety of tasks. Previous publishing experience is not required, though it would be advantageous.


The role is based at their office in Streatham, London. The team works on a hybrid model – two days in-office (Tuesday and Wednesday).

Marketing Assistant at David and Charles Publishing

David and Charles are seeking an enthusiastic Marketing Assistant with a keen eye for detail to join their team, providing support for their consumer marketing initiatives. This role is ideal for anyone seeking their first role in publishing, eager to learn about book marketing and contribute to the success of authors and titles.


Reporting to the Marketing Manager, you will work within the sales and marketing team. Responsibilities include supporting the management of social media accounts (creating and posting content and monitoring its performance), assisting with author book promotions, supporting the creation of email newsletters and offering logistical support for in-person and online marketing events. You will also research media and influencer opportunities, track marketing coverage, monitor sales and campaigns and provide administrative support for all marketing activities.


Strong communication, attention to detail and administrative skills are essential – as is the ability to write brief marketing copy. Training will be provided on all business systems. Some UK travel may be required.

DRF David Miller Internship Programme

Unsure what a publishing agent does? Intrigued by literary rights? The David Miller Internship Programme has the answer.


This programme offers intensive training and mentorship from professionals to help you take your first step into the publishing industry. Two interns will complete placements with renowned agencies including Penguin Random House, Profile Books and more. At the end of the six-week internship, you’ll have gained a strong understanding of publishing licences, translation rights and the role of literary scouts. You’ll also have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend the Frankfurt Book Fair.


Successful candidates will be highly inquisitive and curious about all things agenting. Strong time management, adaptability and resilience are essential. As the internship includes international travel, you must be confident travelling abroad and possess excellent communication and literacy skills.


No publishing experience is required – just a love of books and an organised mind.
