A wonderful opportunity has arisen at Bloomsbury to join their Children’s Department as a Production Assistant. This position offers both a fully office-based and hybrid work option where the successful applicant can either work every day at Bloomsbury’s London office or work Monday and Tuesday in office and the rest of the week from home.
The Production Assistant will be tasked with managing aspects of the Children’s Department’s print-on-demand, handling the processing and cost evaluation of reprints, assisting with the creation of eBooks from Bloomsbury’s backlist and supporting the department with general office administration.
A few skills essential to this role include being highly organised, having a good eye for detail, being able to manage your time well, possessing motivation and initiative and having a working knowledge of certain computer software such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Prior experience in the production field is beneficial but not required.

Junior Designer at Penguin General

Penguin General are looking for a creative Junior Designer with a passion for books to join the Art department, working on the design of book covers and book interiors.
Joining a team of seven and reporting into the Art Director, you will work closely with the senior members of the team to complete existing projects and learn about pre-press processes, as well as producing your own work and developing ideas towards finished book designs.
You’ll have the opportunity to be an integral part of a team that are working across the full breadth of publishing including fiction and non-fiction, hardback and paperback, debuts and bestselling titles.
The ideal candidate will be someone with proven skill in typography and text layout and an interest in conceptual design. You don’t need previous publishing experience, but you’ll need an interest in design for books and a passion for graphic design and visual culture. You’ll be proficient on Mac, as well as Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, with strong organisational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at once, work to briefs and to strict deadlines.

Bloomsbury are looking to recruit a confident and enthusiastic individual to join the Digital Marketing & Website team, who manage Bloomsbury.com and Ospreypublishing.com. Reporting to the Senior Ecommerce & Customer Service Executive, you will be the first point of contact for their website customers and an important part of the customer experience.
You will be providing a high level of customer service, including responding to queries by email and telephone. You’ll also be liaising with colleagues and third-party distributors to assist customers with their queries, identifying any issues reported by customers and alerting line-managers, as well as providing customer feedback to the internal team to help enhance the customer experience.
Ideally, you’ll have some customer service/support experience, the ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt your approach for each customer and excellent written and oral communication skills. You’ll also need superb organisational skills, a keen eye for detail and a logical, problem-solving approach.
