For those interested in the editorial department of the publishing industry, an entry-level Editorial Assistant role has just opened up at Hachette UK!
Joining the editorial team in Hachette’s Orion division, you will work in the Gollancz imprint that specializes in Science Fiction and Fantasy (SFF) novels. You will have the chance to work with some bestselling authors and an amazing team to support you.
As an Editorial Assistant, tasks may include handling the upcoming production of books by booking copyedits and proofreads, as well as managing publications and campaigns by booking calls, meetings and taking minutes. In addition to this administrative support, you will have a chance to provide editorial support via copywriting, shadow editing and reading submissions.
This twelve-month fixed-term contract role will require candidates who are creative, organised and hard-working. A passion for SFF novels is a must as well as a can-do attitude and an ability to work well under pressure. Based in Hachette’s London or Sheffield offices, there is a chance for hybrid working with three days in-office and two remote days.

Digital Support Assistant, Hachette UK

Hachette is looking for a candidate who has a passion for customer service with the ability to communicate and explain technical solutions to non-experts outside the department. An interest in education and schooling is a must.
This role includes supporting the team and customers in technical aspects of ordering, on-boarding, accessing and troubleshooting with the online subscription services. You will also be helping any issues customers have by responding to emails and phone calls as a first point-of-contact with the option to refer to internal departments. By doing this, you will be able to analyse customer behaviours and responses and report these and suggest improvements to the online services.
The accepted candidate will have to work a minimum of three days in the Hely Hutchinson Centre, with the option for two remote working days.
