Audiovisual and Events Production Assistant at Hachette UK

Are you excited at the prospect of being involved in publishing events? Are you looking to combine your media production skills with a love of books? Hachette UK is searching for an Audiovisual (AV) and Events Production Assistant to join their team!


This a varied role supporting the production of online and in-person events. You will be involved in streaming, marketing asset production, music and sound design, editing and also providing professional AV expertise within the Hachette UK business. It is a demanding, fast-paced environment and you will be expected to manage and prioritise simultaneous projects.


The successful candidate will be highly organised and able to exhibit exceptional time management skills. The team is looking for an outgoing self-starter who is able to communicate easily with multiple stakeholders. Though no prior experience in publishing is required, media/film qualifications or equivalent experience is very important in this role. You will be confident using filming equipment such as DSLR cameras, gimbals, lights, stands and more. You will also be proficient in Microsoft Office and editing software such as DaVinci, Premiere Pro and/or After Effects to assist with content completion. Any experience in multimedia production, including in-person, online and hybrid events, would be highly advantageous.


The role is hybrid, with three days per week spent in Hachette’s Carmelite House office in London and two days at home.

Trainee Team Assistant at Women’s Prize Trust

Do you want to learn more about the world of books and campaigning? The Women’s Prize Trust is offering a traineeship opportunity.


The Trust is primarily searching for a passionate reader who champions the organisation’s mission—to enrich society by creating equitable opportunities for women in the world of books and beyond.


The successful applicant will support the team across all activities as required and learn about both the book industry and running a campaigning charity. You will learn how to generally operate in the world of work, how to work efficiently remotely and in a small team, successful community engagement through events, customer service skills, the basics of the publishing industry, the value of advocacy and campaigning for change and much more. Key tasks will include general office administration, customer service for events and merch, event support on and offline, evaluations and project support.


The traineeship can be adapted to fit a more creative or specific focus depending on the candidate’s interests and desired area of training, such as working with the marketing director to write website content.


Ideally, candidates will be outgoing, with excellent verbal and written communication skills and a proactive, can-do attitude. You should display meticulous attention to detail and be excited at the prospect of learning new things. No prior experience is necessary, as this is an entry-level traineeship. Familiarity with using Microsoft Office and Google Suites would be beneficial for working remotely. Wage will depend on your location.

Trainee Marketing and Design Assistant at World Book Day

Salary: £19,059

Location: Remote

 

World Book Day is seeking a creative, innovative and dedicated trainee marketing and design assistant to join their small team. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in marketing, design and communications, contributing to the charity's annual campaign and year-round engagements. The successful candidate will help ensure that more children from diverse backgrounds develop the lifelong habit of reading for pleasure.


Candidates should include two pieces of design work in their application. While experience is not essential, applicants may have a background in art, graphic design, or marketing and a portfolio of relevant projects. Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Canva and Microsoft Office is desirable. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for design, strong attention to detail and the ability to uphold World Book Day's values. This role is perfect for a self-starter with a strong work ethic and the ability to work effectively from home.


This twelve-month traineeship starts in September 2024 and will involve working closely with the World Book Day manager and the digital and content marketing executive. The role includes developing design skills to create visual assets, writing and designing communications for various audiences, and supporting the charity's digital content and marketing materials.
