PR Intern at Kindred

Are you looking to kickstart your career in marketing and communications? Unsure of where to gain relevant experience? Independent comms and PR agency Kindred are searching for a PR Intern to join their team.


Across six months, the successful applicant will learn all about campaign management, media pitching and more. The role, based within the PR team, is perfect for an ambitious and organised intern, ready to help create and deliver standout campaigns. You will work with a wide range of people across multiple clients in a variety of sectors and industries. You can also expect to learn how to plan and evaluate comms campaigns, how to craft a story for earned media, event management and how to sell to media.


Key responsibilities include project management to ensure campaigns run smoothly, conducting research to assist with developing concepts, writing press releases, pitches and client updates, and building media relations. You will also have the exciting opportunity to help plan and execute events and photo shoots.


To succeed in this role, you will have a keen interest in pursuing communications as a career pathway, a desire to learn and an enthusiasm for making the most of the opportunity. No prior experience or university degree is required for this role. The position is hybrid and London-based, with two days per week to be worked in the office.

Junior Designer at The Economist

Closing Date: 13 October 2024

Salary: £27,000–£29,000

Location: London


Interested in designing editorial layouts, both digital and physical? Would you love to work with an established creative team where you can learn and grow? The Economist are looking for a Junior Editorial Designer to join their graphics team in improving the experience for their readers.


The role will primarily have you work from the initial stages of layout design to print, preparing images for digital publication by collaborating closely with the Picture Desk, editors, social media teams and many more. You will be assisting in the management of pages, images and articles to continue the weekly output, and also expect work on flagship products like their apps, newsletters and social media channels. While organising artwork, there are opportunities to create in-house illustrations and commission, though those without experience can be mentored by the Creative Director. 


The successful candidate should demonstrate a desire to learn on the job from understanding the differences between printed pages to The Economist’s digital channels and incorporating the company’s process to meet tight deadlines. You must have an interest in design, catered to users with familiarity with Adobe Creative suite, a design degree, confident communication skills, and the ability to be self-motivated while under pressure.


The role is based at their Central London office from Mondays to Fridays during the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Be aware that this can vary due to press day changes where there is the possibility for weekend overtime. For more details on how to apply, click here.


Junior Export Sales Assistant with Usborne Publishing 

Closing Date: 9 October 2024

Salary: £29,904

Location: London


Do you wish to work in export sales with countries such as India and South Africa? Usborne Publishing is searching for a proactive individual to join their close-knit, global team where you will specialise in children’s books.


Key responsibilities for this role are extremely varied, so the ability to multitask is crucial. You will update book catalogues and the Export inventory routinely. Excellent written communication skills are essential to monitor the email account, respond to queries, and generate quarterly reports. The successful applicant will be friendly and outgoing as you must liaise with foreign clients.


You must possess strong verbal communication skills to work with the global marketing team and a meticulous eye for detail to ensure the Export inventory is accurate. Knowledge of software such as Microsoft 365 and Biblio is advantageous.

Sales Assistant at Bounce Sales and Marketing (12-month FTC)

Salary: £25,000–£27,000

Location: London


Bounce, a specialist children’s sales agency representing children’s publishers from the UK and beyond, are looking for a Sales Assistant to join their London office.


The role will support the Managing Director and the Bounce sales team in selling to a wide range of national accounts. The ideal candidate will be passionate about children’s books and have some publishing or bookselling experience.


The successful candidate will prepare Excel grids, sales kits, and PowerPoint presentations, attend customer meetings and liaise with publishers on sales reports and materials. They will also process orders and returns and will with closely with publishers to organise meetings, communicate updates and ensure all deadlines are met. 


The role will require sales experience and a high level of customer service, a can-do attitude and an excellent ability to work and thrive under pressure.
