International Rights Assistant at Thames & Hudson

Do you want to kickstart your career in international rights? Do you have a passion for illustrated publishing? Leading global illustrated books Publisher Thames & Hudson is searching for an International Rights Assistant to join their team.
In this role, you will report to the Head of International Rights and provide full administrative back-up to the team’s Rights Executives. You will be responsible for the accurate fulfilment of international language co-edition and licence agreements, which will include liaising with other in-house departments – including finance, editorial, design, marketing and publicity as well as production and picture research – as well as working with external publishers. Other day-to-day responsibilities include raising, sending and tracking orders, contracts and invoices; sending out translation materials and answering any editorial or production queries; checking international language files and maintaining department spreadsheets to track co-edition and licence sales.
Primarily, the team is looking for a team player with stellar communication skills, both verbal and written. Prior office experience would be advantageous, as well as experience with MS Office, particularly Excel. Any knowledge of European languages would also be beneficial, alongside an interest in working with people from other countries and cultural backgrounds. You should be an expert multi-tasker, able to prioritise your workload efficiently and display meticulous attention to detail.
This position is based in Central London and offers hybrid working after probation.

Reprint Assistant (12-month Fixed Term Contract) at Hodder Education

Do you want the opportunity to work closely with multiple publishing departments? Do you understand how to use Adobe Suite? This unique opportunity as a Reprint Assistant in the Operations Department at one of the largest publishing groups in the UK is now open.
The role at Hodder Education is diverse, but the main responsibilities revolve around making sure the book is published to a high standard and liaising with different departments by offering ideas and feedback. You will supervise multiple projects by making sure tasks are scheduled and be in contact with the Production Manager and Senior Reprint Editor to closely monitor project budgets and assess quality maintenance. You will also use InDesign to correct covers if necessary and check that files are print-ready.
The successful candidate will be organised and a confident communicator who is able to prioritise across multiple workloads to meet deadlines and solve problems. You will have technical knowledge of print and production as well as digital products. Desirable attributes include prior demonstrable experience of successfully budgeting and managing suppliers in a similar environment and basic skills in InDesign and Photoshop.
The role is based at their London office, Carmelite House and will be hybrid, working 3 days in-office per week.

Assistant to Literary Rights Agent with Endeavor

Key responsibilities include reading manuscripts and book proposals for a variety of genres from both UK and US based authors. You will be providing concise feedback on these manuscripts, so you must have excellent written communication skills as well as great attention to detail. The successful candidate will also carry out general assistant duties such as answering phones and drafting correspondence, so a willingness to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment is critical. Moreover, you will partake in general administrative duties, such as updating databases and tracking royalties. The lucky candidate will have the opportunity to assist with the preparation of Frankfurt, London and Bologna Book fairs.
